AOCEMS

Introducing AOCEMS

AOCEMS is a powerful national solution for governments to take action on air pollution, enforce compliance, and control emissions across the country. It supports real-time monitoring, regulatory enforcement, and data-driven policymaking. By aligning with climate change goals, the Paris Agreement, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), AOCEMS helps countries meet their international environmental commitments while protecting public health and promoting sustainable development. AOCEMS is Africa’s smart emissions monitoring platform that tracks, analyzes, forecasts, and enforces industrial pollution compliance in real time.

  • Tracks real-time emissions from air, water, and noise across industries.
  • Analyzes environmental data with AI for actionable insights.
  • Forecasts pollution trends to support proactive regulation.
  • Enforces compliance through alerts, reports, and automated flagging.

AOCEMS (Africa Online Continuous Emission Monitoring System) is a transformative climate tech platform advancing Africa’s progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). By enabling real-time tracking and enforcement of industrial emissions, AOCEMS empowers governments to reduce pollution, protect ecosystems, and ensure cleaner air and water for communities. In Ghana, AOCEMS—implemented as GOCEMS in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)—is actively monitoring emissions across 20 industrial sites, helping the country meet its environmental targets through data-driven decision-making and strengthened regulatory compliance.

How It Works

The Africa Online Continuous Emission Monitoring System (AOCEMS) operates by capturing real-time environmental data directly from industrial sources and high-impact zones. At designated data capture sites, AOCEMS collects emissions and effluent information using advanced analyzers installed across manufacturing facilities, power plants, and ports—both onshore and offshore. These devices measure pollutants in air, water, and noise to ensure environmental compliance across sectors.

The collected data is transmitted securely via cloud servers to centralized control rooms where it is processed and visualized on interactive dashboards. This setup allows regulatory authorities to monitor industrial emissions continuously, access performance analytics, and ensure timely enforcement of environmental standards. The system also integrates APIs from other emission analyzers, offering a robust and scalable infrastructure for national and regional environmental governance.
